Transaction History: Seven Years of Searchable Account Activity

Account Activity Quick Reference

TD Business Central stores seven years of transaction history across all payment types. Advanced search supports Boolean operators, wildcard matching, amount ranges and date filters. Download up to 50,000 records per export in CSV or PDF. Initiate disputes directly from any transaction row. Multi-account search returns unified results in under three seconds.

Finding a single transaction from eighteen months ago should not require a phone call to your bank. TD Business Central transaction history gives your finance team direct, self-service access to every payment, transfer and deposit processed through your accounts — going back seven full years.

The search engine behind this feature is fast. Type a beneficiary name, enter an amount range, select a date window — results appear in under three seconds, even when scanning millions of records across multiple accounts. No waiting for batch queries. No filing support tickets.

Advanced Search That Finds What You Need

TD Business Central transaction history search goes well beyond a basic date filter. Use operators, combine criteria and search across all linked accounts simultaneously.

The search bar accepts free-text queries and structured operators. Wrap a beneficiary name in quotes for exact match. Use an asterisk for wildcard — searching "North*" returns NorthStar Holdings, Northern Infrastructure and Northgate Supplies. Combine conditions with AND/OR logic to narrow results precisely.

Amount-based filtering uses standard comparison operators. Search for transactions greater than $10,000, less than $500, or within a specific range. Pair amount filters with date ranges and payment types to isolate exactly the records you need for reconciliation or audit response.

The negative filter operator is particularly useful during dispute research. Prefix any criterion with a minus sign to exclude it. For example, "-EFT" removes all EFT transactions from results, letting you focus on wire transfers and bill payments only.

Multi-Account Unified Search

Businesses with multiple operating accounts, payroll accounts and reserve accounts can search across all of them in a single query. Results display the source account for each transaction, and you can toggle between unified view and per-account view without re-running the search. This eliminates the repetitive process of searching each account individually when tracking a payment chain across entities.

Seven-Year Archive Depth

TD Business Central retains complete transaction records for seven years from the settlement date. That is 2,555 days of searchable data per account. The retention period aligns with the Canada Revenue Agency's requirement for businesses to keep financial records for six years after the tax year in which they were created, plus an additional year of buffer.

Per the Canada Revenue Agency record-keeping requirements, businesses must maintain source documents that support their tax filings. TD Business Central transaction history serves as that source, with each record carrying a unique reference number, timestamp, settlement confirmation and full counterparty details.

Records beyond seven years are moved to offline cold storage. If you need access to archived data older than the standard retention window, contact TD Business Central customer service. Retrieval from cold storage typically takes three to five business days.

The OSFI record retention guidelines for federally regulated financial institutions reinforce these timelines. TD Business Central exceeds the minimum by maintaining full detail records rather than summary-level data.

Bulk Download Capability

After running a search, click Export Results to download the full result set. TD Business Central supports exports of up to 50,000 records in a single file. Choose CSV for spreadsheet import or PDF for formatted printable output.

Exports exceeding 50,000 records are split automatically into multiple files and delivered as a ZIP archive to your registered email. Processing time for large exports is typically under 30 minutes. There is no cap on how many exports you can run per day or per month.

Downloaded files include every visible column in your search results. If you need additional fields beyond what the history screen shows, use the Custom Reports builder to create a detailed extract with all 47 available data fields.

Integrated Dispute Process

Spotted an unauthorized transaction? An incorrect amount? A duplicate charge? TD Business Central lets you initiate a dispute directly from the transaction history row. Click the three-dot action menu, select Dispute This Transaction, and a pre-populated form opens with the relevant details already filled in.

Add your reason, attach supporting documentation (invoices, correspondence, internal approval records) and submit. The system assigns a case number immediately and routes the dispute to TD's commercial banking investigations team. You can track dispute status from the Disputes tab within transaction history.

Average resolution time is five to ten business days for standard disputes. Complex cases involving international counterparties may take longer. Throughout the process, status updates appear in the transaction history row and are copied to your notification preferences.
